A Ship Named Miaraka!
January marks the peak of citrus fruit maturity and harvest season in southern Italy. Every year, we travel to Calabria and Sicily to meet our producers and partners and follow the harvesting and processing of the fruit used in our organic essential oils.
Concerned about the ecological impact of imports from third countries, the sailing container ship project that will connect France to Madagascar appeared as an obvious choice since we regularly import organic essential oils from Madagascar.
As a member of the Windcoop cooperative behind this project, we are pleased to announce that the cutting of the first steel plate took place on December 19, 2025; construction is expected to be completed in June 2027!
This container ship, 94 meters long and equipped with three rigid sails, will be able to transport 210 containers while reducing the carbon footprint of transport by a factor of three!
Miaraka, which means Together in Malagasy, is the name of the first cargo ship in the Windcoop project, which hopes to develop its fleet to reduce the ecological impact of fossil fuels.
